hey yall:) my name is Brook Irvin. I play three varsity sports and love the out doors. I am going to Clemson in the falll for nursing. I will be a CNA by this summer so i can start my career. I am blessed with amazing friends and family that i wouldnt give up or anything. I am blessed by God in so many ways.
Genesis 1-3
As im reading this first chapter all i can think about is how people can say they dont believe in God and the Bible. Explaining how the world was created is awesome. I love how on the third day God created the seeds for vegetation and the plants and trees for the crops to grow on before he made the moon and the sun. the moon and the sun were not made until the fourth day. i think this is absolutely amazing how he can create something before there was the sun to produce light. that just shows how amazing Gods work really is. Genesis 2:7 says "Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being." This was the first man to be created. God then let him name all the aniamals and tried to find him a helper to take care of the garden. the anaimals could not help him like he needed so he gave adam a women by taking Adams rib while in deep sleep to create her. this is awesome how he opened Adams flesh and put it back together. then in chapter 3 Adam and Eve eat the fruit and are cursed. God has changed the lives of all human beings because Adam went against him. The serpant lost his legs and had to sliver on his belly. this chapter shows humans why we sin today and why we are not pure. i love reading this chapter because it explains how everything got her and was created; sin included.

Brook,
I agree completely one hundred percent with everything you said. I was left in awe just reading this and I really have no earthly idea how any one could see all this creation and actually believe that it just suddenly, "bang", exsisted. Yeah, sorry but Im calling b-s on that. Studying biology last year I thanked God everytime I studied because while i was studying, I realized how amazing his creation was. I sometimes find myself neglecting a lot of what the creation encompassed though partly because im being ignorant and partly because this reading puts it so simply. So lets just try to get a better handle on things. Just think about it. Every cell, nerve, particle, neuron, etc. was created by God just as he spoke it into exsistence. Just SPOKE it. Wow. If every human being in the world went out and started counting leaves everyday of the whole year, we still would not be able to all the leaves in the world. That truely says something about the emensity of what he did. And that is only the leaves! Think about all the animals, insects, fish, birds, etc. that are out there as well. And they are much more complicated than leaves. This just goes to show you and everyone else how truely amazing our God is. Sorry im gonna go on a little side note here, but I cant help but think that if he is this awesome and perfect, how does he even tolerate us? I mean come on, we are all sinners. Horrible horrible sinners and we could not hope to be here now and have a chance to know him, be his friend, and have a chance at an eternal life with him, if it had not been for his grace. "Amazing grace how sweet the sound." Praise him and his ways!

Response to "On the Marionette Theatre"
When we were reading through this in class i started to understand it as we discussed it but finishing it on my own i dont really understand. i dont see why he wants to talk about the puppets and how they can move differently than humans. i also dont understand how this relates to the Genesis passage we read last class. i think he should compare the puppet to humans in all positive and negative ways. i think the way some things are worded and because this topic does not interest me at all it was very hard for me to read and stay interested. i would like to have more of a discussion on it and see how this is going to effect what these series of stories and books we are reading. this confused me a lot.

I am in the same boat as brook. This was really hard for me to understand and stay focused when reading. What i got from the reading was that this man believed marionettes moved more graciously than humans do. Which is weird because all they really do is flop around and i'd rather watch a human dance any day. It was when he told the story of the young man dancer that was really graceful that i think i got a better picture of what he was trying to say. The young man got caught up in vanity, and here i think Klesit is using the young man's vanity as an example of every human's sin. So, if you follow the philosophy that since every human sins and sinning cuts down on your graciousness, marionettes are better dancers because they don't sin and therefore are a leg up on humans.
Response on "Book 1"
Just from reading this title i like how it says the argument. even though this peice of writing would blow my mind if Mr. Alexander wasnt teaching it to me many people agrue about this subject all the time. thats one reason he wrote on this. just like in Genesis he never refers to satan as satan, he always says the serpant. to me this is showing respect for the caracters of the beginning of time. like we discussed in class did God know that sin was going to be created and thats why he made hell or did he wait for someone to send to punish them. Satan was put in the garden to discieve adam and eve. later on in the reading he starts to talk about hell and how it is. he says " A Dungeon horrible, on all sides round, As one great Furnace flam'd, yet from those flames, No light, but rather darkness visible... hope never comes, That comes to all; but torture without end, Still urges, and a fiery Deluge, fed, With ever-burning Sulphur unconsum'd: Such place Eternal Justice had prepar'd [ 70 ] For those rebellious, here thirPrison ordain'd. " this is saying how horrible the dungeon is and how darkenss is visible in this dungeon. he also says that hope will never come meaning that you are stuck there. this is not the place you want to go. i think that he describes hell very well during these lines and puts it almost in words that can frighten you. reading that going to hell is going to be a prison and never having hoope makes me beieve in God more just because i would never want to go there. after describing how hell is he then tells about heaven. "If thou beest he; But O how fall'n! how chang'd From him, who in the happy Realms of Light [ 85 ] Cloth'd with transcendent brightness didst out-shine Myriads though bright: If he Whom mutual league, United thoughts and counsels, equal hope And hazard in the Glorious Enterprize." i think in this passage he says that the change is making it from happy realms of light and there is always brightness. changing for the better will get you to heaven where you can be happy. to have equal hope for heaven and a hazard in the glorious enterprize. the way i am looking at these passages may be completely different than what they really mean im not very sure but i wanted to mention what stood out to me. when we go through this in class i might be completely wrong i have no clue.

Sup Brook. I apologize for responding so late to this but I was kinda busy today. Watching the walking dead and all that haha. I realize that it is going to make you have to wait on me but its ok cause mr alexander will understand. Anyway, this article is extremely hard for me to understand. And to be quite honest Mr Alexand, however hard he may be trying, is not clarifying it very well for me. Every superman has his kryptonite and this is definitely mine. But what i get from it is Milton is writing on the issue of Mans first disobedience and how because of that disobedience he lost his perfect place, the garden of eden. By the way i love how you used your quotes and if you dont mind im gonna use some of my own. Line 1-3 tells us about how the eating of the Forbidden fruit "death into the world and all our woe." Then it says , "till one greater man restore us and regain the blissful seat." That one greater man of course is jesus who died on the cross to save us from our sins. Its funny because when i read this i find many instances that relate, or point back to jesus as he is our redemption out of this, "Man's first disobedience." This is true in life as well and we should always go back to jesus no matter the situation and he will save us. He is our redemption.
Response to Book 4
like i said my internet was down when this was due and so now i am writing my response. im sorry for the confusion, but i liked this discussion we had in class on this book. we didnt just talk about the boring book we talked about God and Satan in life which made it interesting. Satan blends himself in as a good angel and sneaks into heaven. He then loses his cool and gabriel finds out that he is evil and has evil spirit. i like how mr alexander went against us and asked us about how we felt about satan. i normally pull for the underdog in situations but i was not about to feel guilty for satan. satan went against God and will always go against God, so why should anyone want to feel bad for someone who is going to backstab them after they pity them. if that makes sense. i think that book 4 is a good book to start a discussion about because what would have happened if no one would have known that satan had evil spirits. satan could have turned any of the other angels on God like he turned Eve. God had a plan for what was going to happen to Satan but i always ask what if to situations that you know whats going to happen. everyone knew God was going to handle it but what if satan wouldve gotten away with it.. where would everyone be today.. seeing if this was true.

Whats up brook. Gotta love milton dont ya. It is really interesting to me how Milton is giving us all this background history and its all so new. It makes me wonder where he got it from and maybe that he made it all up. Well that will definitely give something for mr alexander to talk about tomorrow. But if he didnt make it up what sources did he get it all from? I dont recall any books of the bible talking about satan and his demons... maybe mr alexander can shed some light on this subject for me. Another subject that we might need to talk about more is when eve went and looked in the lake and adam had to pull her away. I mean, what the heck! Was the first woman that conceited? Its crazy to think about because of course then you have to get into the whole thing wether she was conceited or not and whether or not "conceited" was actually conceited yet and because the world was perfect at that time then she cant possibly have been conceited because being conceited is a sin. Or is it?

So i was very disappointed when i saw that i had a 0 in the grade book for this response but its ok because now i am making it up. i thought the idea about making our own plate to resemble innocence and experience was a great end of the year project. i like writing poems so this project was actually fun for me. i think that instead of just teaching what the difference is between innocence and experience is and making us learn the material through poetry and with our little groups was a better way of teaching. not always is it better but it helped us there. you are a very good teacher Mr. Alexander and know what your talking about. this english is just not very fun. expecially learning about Milton. that was a drag for many people in our class because it was multiple questions that couldnt be answered and our class decides to sit there and try to answer them by arguing. it was fun overall and a good experience for you. im glad we got you as our student teacher and not someone else. i hope you do great even though you are going to pville. they will all love you. and with your "girlfriend"... have an AMAZING wedding!!!!!!
