I would say he's fun but that would be a lie because all he does is lay on his back on the kitchen floor all day. Music.....I like Death Cab for Cutie, The Lumineers, The Paper kites, of Monsters and Men, Bombay Bycicle Club, Two Door Cinema Club, The Honey Trees, the Shins, all that good stuff. And thats all im tellin you peoplesss for now cuz i need to get ready for school! cyaaa
Reader response for Febuary 25th:I really enjoyed reading these chapters in Genesis. I got so excited when i heard that our homework was going to be reading the Bible!! Anyways, Moses starts it out pretty powerful with a nice impactful first sentence - "In the beginning, God created the Heaven and the Earth." Dang. A couple of things that jumped out to me in the first chapter were the clear dispelling of beliefs some Christians have. The first one is the belief that some have that God didn't create the earth in six actual days, that it was really millions of years, in an attempt to compromise with evolutionists. However, a, nowhere is there any Biblical evidence for this belief whatsoever, and b, i think God makes it pretty darn clear what a day is. After every act of creation He clearly state what day that was created on, and ends talking about each creation day with, "And the evening and the morning were the __ day." Sounds like God made his point pretty well to me. Another small mention in verse 26 refers to the trinity, showing that God is not just a single person - "Let us make man in our image, after Our likeness." In chapter 2 i love it how God shows us by example how ewe are supposed to rest on the Lords day and use to to praise Him, not work. I would have loved to have had adams job of naming the animals....thatd be pretty fun. Also i love it how God tells us that when we get married we become "one flesh", i cant wait for that. One thing i have always found rather amusing when reading chapter three is how the human race hasnt changed much. They blame shifted then just as we do now! "well yes God i did that....but it was the womans fault!! Yes i ate it, but God, it was only because of the Devil!!" Anyways, reading Genesis for the idk how manyth time was a pleasure:)
Reader response for March 8th:Well Heinrich von Kleist's work took some time to get through! I understand it better than i did initially going through it in class. First, something that bothers me. He seems to have a misconception of perfection. In dance, i view something as beautiful that DOES have soul to it. Because in my mind, dance is less about getting the movements exactly right, though that is important, and more about the individuals heart and soul and story showing through their movements. It is beautiful to me how even the same person dancing the same show can result in a different look and feel on each night they preform, because humans are living creatures that have varying emotions and feelings that affect everything we do. However while I view this as a good thing, he views it as a bad thing - a blemish on "perfect" dance, saying about the marionettes "The advantage? First of all a negative one, my friend: it would never be guilty of affectation". What he means by this is that humans sometimes do things differently - we are not mechanical, sometimes we do things differently that at other times. However while this can be a beautiful thing, he seems to think it a break from perfection, and therefore bad. He says of his marionettes, "Because the operator controls with his wire or thread only this centre, the attached limbs are just what they should be.… lifeless, pure pendulums, governed only by the law of gravity. This is an excellent quality". However, the point of this article is not to talk about dancers, rather the dancers symbolize the human race as a whole. I was slightly confused about his confusing paragraph. THE most i could get out of it that was in order to have the most grace, you had to be either a human without consciousness (a puppet like human - like a fatalist views how people are "controlled" by God??) or God yourself. And therefore perfection is unattainable by nature since we ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, so we will have to find another way to that perfection, and seemingly how we lost the perfection in the first place - by taking matters into our own hands and doing it ourselves. -note, this makes sense in my head. I sincerely apologize if it doesn't to you :P
This book is SO confusing. I have to admit I KInd of hated reading it. I tried so hard to understand it - if you looked at my copy of it you would see notes written to almost every line. And yet i still don't feel like i have mch to say on the subject, because it was so difficult for me to grasp. I think it's crazy that Mr. Alexander said the author thinks his work is on par with Genesis. Who thinks that?? The Bible was written through the hands of God inspired men - how can he make a claim that he is on level with that? He does, however, clarify that "what is in me is dark illumin". He believe that matter evolved after God put it on earth - i think that is the most ridiculous claim that people make to try and compromise the Bible with "science", a made up belief for the explination of the world. They dont miix, and no where does the Bible give evidence for that. The description of Hell was quite scary and detailed - it made me shudder. Also Im kind of confused what he is saying petween like lines 90 and 95....he seems to be saying that Beelzebub was stronger than anyone knew (even God??) and therefore doesnt seem to be giving God full credit, even though he acts like he holds God up so high....but idk, maybe i just have no clue what im talking about. I'm sick and cant think straight - ill miss you all in class tomorrow!
Yeah, I feel you, Caroline! It's confusing but is still interesting to me. I didn't really think about how he was supposed to be on the same page as Genesis... I don't exactly think they are that comparable either. That's like saying that God used Milton to write the Bible, which would mean that this that we are reading is part of the Bible... Right? But hey, what do we know? There are loose ends all throughout the Bible and there are many "lost books" or books that aren't included. Haha but I understand where you are coming from about how he seems to be underestimating God... Maybe that's just because he is focusing on Satan in this book and it wasn't supposed to be read that way. Milton was a strange man! I hope you begin to feel better, girl! We will miss you as well!
Reader response March 21st Book ll: Wow. This piece of work is just getting crazier and crazier. It really struck me in book two how AWFUL the demons are. They are waging a war against GOD, when they are the ones who did wrong to Him in the first place. Also, I think the other demons are pretty stupid. They jut believe Satan is being all heroic offering to be the one to go "explore Earth", when really he is just trying to take all the power for himself. I also think they are crazy that they think they can turn Hell into another heaven....that could never happen. They all have their different opinions on how they should handle things.... and for the majority, they just follow along with whatever the newest idea is, buying it that it will work. The whole thing at the gates with Satans daughter sin and her son Death is so creepy to me. It just shows to me though how awful Satan is - all of theses terrible things come from Satan. Sin, death, rape, the list goes on. Satan is uncapable of producing anything good now. Also reading about how the devils made it their goal to try and corrupt us and torment us and make us evil makes me realize how temptations in life literally are from the devil. And we need to stand up against that because while it may seem fun, really its the devils trying to destroy our lives.
Reader response April 28th: So its been a crazy week what with tests and violin recital and senior project which is why I am just getting to writing this! Speaking of senior Project, that is what I am going to write about now!! The presentation is Tuesday.....I've spent all evening thinking of what im going to say and practicing it in front of my parents. It didn't go perfectly any of those times and my time is dangerously close to the deadline of ten minutes, but hopefully I'll pass with an A. I'm pretty nervous about it but in all i cant wait for Tuesday to have this over with!! Its been a long stretch. some of its been good and some bad, but in all, I'm happy for the Senior Project. It has taught me a lot of things. One of those is obviously the topic of my project - learning to fiddle! I've always wanted to do this but haven't had a chance until now. I love it!! another thing it has taught me is how to better interact with people - mentor, teachers, etc., and take contacting and figuring things out responsibilities to myself. Lastly it has been yet another thing that is teaching me NOT TO PROCRASTINATE!! That is what I did with this project and I regret it. If I could do this all over again I would be both more on top of things and more organized.
