IObviously if you have questions about the reading, I want them in your responses and we will get to all of them in class. If you have general questions about how to work the wiki or just a curiousity about something, I'll do my best to answer all of those on this page. Be sure to put your name if you want a specific response, or ask something anonymously if you want to (but remember I can technically see all edits, so it won't be very anonymous).

You didn't put my name in a group. -Hannah
Huh, I guess you're right. That's really weird; I just put the entire roll into a group generator. Well, that actually simplifies things. Just join up with Charley and then there isn't a group of 3 anymore. I'll announce this in class on Tuesday too for anyone that doesn't check this, just try to remind me. Thanks for catching that before Friday. -Mr. Alexander

I was absent when you guys did that satire thing. What am I supposed to do for it so that I have a grade on the Portal? - Lacey Kish
Here is the satire assignment, will you please tell Sarah where to find this link as well? - Mr. Alexander

Mr. Alexander, with your knowledge of Andy Hull and his bands and writings, I assume you've heard the song "Barely Bit Me" by Right Away, Great Captain! How do you feel the line "Sin has always found a way to make the Saints obey" in relation to what we've been talking about? (I was going to put this question on your page, but it's restricted to edit.) -Logan Rice
The song seems to be about about the way a little bit of sin can nip you and find a way to make a home and stay forever. The question here seems to be the way that we are all bitten by sin to various degrees, though it's all supposed to count equally, and the last few lines "mother I noticed, one of the men on the cross was allowed to come down" seem to be talking about the three men on Calvary. Upon the first reading I thought the man that was allowed to come down is Jesus, and maybe that is still correct, but this reading made me think that it was possible it was talking about the thief who Jesus saved on the cross. The reasons I think this are two-fold: first, the line right above this mentions a "wanted thief", secondly, the song seems to focus on sin and mercy "I wanted mercy, I wanted proof like you, that all my chains could break away." I think this reading allows us to ask why are some men lucky enough to get a chance to ask for forgiveness on their deathbed, or in this situation as they are hanging on the cross waiting to die, while some of us try to live a good life, say our prayers, but we could still die with unforgiven sin if we forgot, or didn't get the opportunity to ask, the moment before we die. This man happened to be dying right next to Jesus, so it's easy to be assured, but most men do not, and there will always be doubts. I realize I didn't really answer your question, but that's my unique reading on this. For anyone else reading this, feel free to ask me more questions, and put your thoughts, this is our class wiki, so it should be indicitave of what we collectively know and what we collectively would like to know more about. Hope this helps.
-Mr. Alexander

I actually read an interview where he discussed the "Mother I noticed one of the men on the cross was allowed to come down" line. He was talking about the one in which Jesus said "Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise" (Luke 23:43). I found this line interesting as well for similar reasons of why you did. I also found the lines before that about "the Serpent's garden overgrown in me" and how he wanted Mercy, and he wanted Thief. He does an incredible job of writing about the 'hard' things.

So what if your partner doesn't have a page, but you can read their response on their profile, but you can't respond to their response?
Haha, you could create a page for them and copy paste their stuff in there and then respond since apparently some people just can't figure it out. Or you can just wait until they figure it out and I won't count off, but helping your partner is certainly encouraged. - Mr. Alexander

Which reading responses are due tonight? -Larissa

Nothing was due over the weekend. - Mr. Alexander

uhhhh....whats our homework?? and whens it due, tonight? - Caroline
yeah i dont know what to read and respond to because theres nothing on the "assignments!" tab...??? -Harrison Hix

The assignment is always the same. I assigned the reading on Monday. It is Kleist's essay "On the Marionette Theatre". And you respond, like you did to Genesis. The Assignments tab says it's due every week. -Mr. Alexander

So my partner made a page a few days ago and I've had my response since last Friday ready but I didn't post it until today because that's when I saw their page so is there anyway my 0 in the grade book can change? -Bethany

-We can talk about it tomorrow, you aren't the only one in this situation. -Mr. Alexander

If people have edited my poem online, can we just rewrite it for our second draft and you assume the corrections were from the person we say edited it? -Larissa
